Five Finders Photo Festival Report

The Five Finders Photo Festival runs from Wednesday, July 4 until Monday, July 16, 2018 between 10AM and 9PM, and is located on the 6th floor of the Seibu Shibuya Movida Building. Admission is free.

The gallery showcases photos by five concert photographers: Kazuro Aoki (cazrowAoki), Viola Kam (V’z Twinkle), Yukihide [JON…] Takimoto, Kazushi Hamano, and Takeshi Yao. I was of course there for the ONE OK ROCK photographers, Kazuro Aoki and Kazushi Hamano.

The gallery had large walls erected on the floor and each photographer had their own wall which displayed their work. There were some walls which did not allow photography, but most of the gallery did not have any restrictions.

There was a video playing on a big flat screen which showed the point of view of the photographers when they’re doing their thing. Near the back of the gallery was a set made to look like a concert stage complete with barricades in the front row. We were allowed to go up on the stage to look at the photos there. There was also a white wall with the gallery logo and dates, and signatures of the photographers and some of the artists whose photos were featured in the gallery. Unfortunately none of the ONE OK ROCK members had signed it but since I went on the first day, it’s possible that they might come by at a later date to add their mark.

The gallery itself wasn’t huge and maybe only takes 15-30 minutes to look through everything. There were goods being sold as well but the designs were just of the gallery logo and such, no band merch. Some photo panels were being sold too but they were pricey and didn’t include any photos of ONE OK ROCK. If you happen to be in the area then this could be something to stop by and visit but it’s not really worth coming from far away to see. I think it would have been cool if they also had photos by Rui Hashimoto or Julen Esteban-Pretel since they are the ones who take the bulk of ONE OK ROCK’s photos, but alas, this gallery wasn’t just for OOR.
