I’m back from my trip to California! My friends and I followed ONE OK ROCK around for three days. Check out the first of my reports, Sacramento, here!

Happy birthday, Tomoya!!
The bestest drummer who ever drummed turns 32 today! Congratulations!
Calling all drummers!
Tomoya is currently holding a giveaway for his old SJC drum set. To enter, you must post a video of you drumming to your Instagram feed. It doesn’t matter what song you play or whether you play solo or with an ensemble, or if you play with the original audio as a guide in the background. You must tag Tomoya (@tomo_10969) and the official ONE OK ROCK account (@oneokrockofficial), and use the hashtag #tomoyaドラムセットプレゼント企画. Entry deadline is July 31 at 11:59PM JST. Limit 1 entry per person. Tomoya will choose one winner from the entries and the winner will be notified via DM from the official ONE OK ROCK account. Reselling the prize is prohibited. Snare drum, cymbals, stands, and pedals are not included.
Entries don’t seem to be restricted to residents of Japan but considering the rules are only written in Japanese and that overseas shipping would cost an arm and a leg, I think it’s pretty safe to say that people outside Japan are not likely to be chosen. It’s a cool chance to possibly have Tomoya see your drumming though so good luck to anyone who decides to enter!
Full details can be found on Tomoya’s Instagram post here.
Mark your calendars! Both “AMBITIONS JAPAN DOME TOUR” and “with Orchestra Japan Tour” will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on August 21! They will each come with a booklet that includes 100 pages of photos, commentary, live reports, and staff interviews. There is no mention of documentary footage so it’s probably safe to say that there will unfortunately be little to none included with these releases.
Pre-order your copy from Amazon Japan here!
Dome: Blu-ray, DVD
Orchestra: Blu-ray, DVD
Tomoya announced via his Instagram account on the 28th that he and his wife welcomed another son to their family. Congratulations!
ONE OK ROCK announced a new tour the other day: Eye of the Storm World Tour 2019 -US & Mexico-. While it says U.S., it’s more like West Coast since there are five performances in California, including Warped Tour in Mountain View, and Portland. I will be attending the concerts in Sacramento and Ventura in addition to the previously planned Warped Tour for a 3-day weekend with ONE OK ROCK! My friends and I got VIP tickets for both newly announced shows so that should be a lot of fun.
My report for ONE OK ROCK’s opening act for Ed Sheeran in Osaka is up! Check it out here.
My next time seeing the band will be at Warped Tour in July.
Happy 31st birthday, Taka!!
Our favorite vocalist turns 31 today! Hope he’s having a good time in Hong Kong.
To celebrate Taka’s birthday, I’ve translated his answers to MTV’s 100 questions which aired in February. Check it out here!
Yesterday was Ed Sheeran’s concert at Tokyo Dome! ONE OK ROCK is supporting Ed on the Asian leg of his Divide World Tour and my friend was lucky enough to get a couple tickets for us in the last lottery. The results literally came out the day before the actual concert. Phew!
Read up on my report here! I’ll also be attending the show in Osaka later this month, and that will be my last time seeing ONE OK ROCK as a resident of Japan since I’ll be moving back to the States in May. I do, however, plan on hitting up Warped Tour in July (Bay Area represent!!) and if things go right, maybe I’ll be able to make it back to Japan for their Japan Tour in the fall. (Wish they’d announce the schedule for that already…)
It was announced that ONE OK ROCK will be performing at this year’s Vans Warped Tour in Mountain View, CA on July 20. I’m from San Jose so this means they’ll be performing in my hometown area and there’s no way I’m going to miss it! I already got tickets for myself and my friends. Excited for July!
…It’s also hard to imagine that the band would come all the way to the U.S. just to do a short 30-minute or so set, so there’s some speculation that they may be doing a second round of touring in the U.S. in the summer. We’ll just have to wait and see!
This is more of a personal announcement, but after 9 years in Japan, I will be moving back to the States in May. That will make it easier for me to catch them at Warped Tour and if they do come back to the U.S. again later in the year, but that unfortunately means that there’s no guarantee I will be able to see them on their Japan Tour in the fall. (I’ll be keeping my phone service active just in case though!)
The Asian leg of Ed Sheeran’s tour starts today and the boys are already in Taiwan. Taka has started a Weibo account and made his first post yesterday. I plan on attending the Osaka show and hopefully the Tokyo one too, so look out for those reports!
